Beverly Gossage is a health insurance agent licensed in nearly half the states. She helped pioneer health savings accounts (HSAs) and advises both state and federal legislators on health care reform. Her background in helping individuals, businesses, and seniors purchase affordable coverage have been invaluable in understanding how health care policy affects Americans. Beverly is a research fellow with the Show-Me Institute and has served as a health policy advisor for many groups, including Physicians for Reform, Jobs Creators Network, and Independent Women’s Voice. Beverly has testified on health policy bills in both houses of the Kansas and Missouri Legislatures and before federal health care study committees. She has been invited to the White House by two Presidents to advise on health care policy. On March 5, 2007, the Show-Me Institute sponsored Gossage’s presentation to the Missouri Legislature on HSAs and free-market approaches to health insurance reform. The Legislature subsequently drafted HB 818, a market-based reform bill that incorporated many of the ideas Gossage presented. Gov. Matt Blunt signed the bill into law in June of that year.
