Factors such as tax rates and educational attainment have been studied at length, and the findings have provided little cause for optimism over Missouri’s future. One area that has received less attention is the role of the entrepreneur in the economic environment. This essay examines Missouri’s record of business development over the past decade as a possible source of the state’s sluggish economic growth.</p>
